FIGURES OF ORALITY

1.) How does food become the center of power relations between the master and slaves?

Answer:
Food is one of the primary needs of people. The master needs the slaves to cook and serve food for them while slaves need their master to provide them something to eat even if its not enough for them---but at least, they have something to eat.

2.) How is food associated with a mother?

Answer:
A mother is the one giving birth to a baby. She provides the baby everything he/she needs especially her love and care. Obviously, no one can live without a mother. Just like with the mother, we need food to provide us with energy to do our daily activities, nutrients to help us grow taller and smarter, vitamins and minerals to protect us from diseases, etc. Therefore, no one can live with without a mother, neither without a food.

b.)  In the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern lands, food and tradition go hand in hand. It takes several hours to make a meal in the Arab Middle East while in Europe and North America, preparation is effortless. One can buy the ingredients canned, frozen or prepared by someone.
